WELCOME TO OUR POINT OF CARE LEARNING PORTAL

WHO WE ARE

We are a group of neonatologists’ experts in point of care techniques including bedside ultrasound, targeted neonatal echocardiography, and all other modalities of end organ advanced assessment and monitoring (brain, heart, lung, intestine and procedures). Our main goal in founding this website is to expand our knowledge and experience among other neonatal care providers in rest of the world, aiming to move from just relying on subjective clinical examinations to more clear objective understanding and assessment of organ performance. This physiology based approach and assessment strategy would improve the quality of care with formulated medical recommendations and practice in neonatology.

OUR GOALS

The main objectives of applying point of care techniques should be considered to improve all end organs outcomes rather than applying a new diagnostic technique. The following are the benefits of learning this point of care techniques

BRAIN

  • Prevention of IVH
  • Prevention of ongoing brain damage and PVL
  • Improving neuro-developmental outcomes

HEART

  • Minimize progression of cardiovascular compromise to shock
  • Optimize oxygen delivery
  • Minimize exposure to CVS medications

LUNG

  • Minimize hypoxemic respiratory failure
  • Minimize oxygen toxicity
  • Reduces MV days to minimum

INTESTINE

  • Early diagnosis of NEC and food protein allergy
  • Minimize periods of unnecessary NPO
  • Minimize progression to intestinal failure
