HANDS ON RESEARCH WORKSHOP FOR CLINICIANS AND TRAINEES



COURSE OBJECTIVES

 
The overall purpose is to teach basics of Research Methodology and Biostatistics for clinicians and trainees in an workshop format, so that the participants would be able to incorporate this knowledge in formulating research question, design, data extraction, data entry, storage, analysis, producing simple graphical outcome, able to summarize the findings effectively in their presentations and walk them through the steps leading to successful publication.

At the end of this learning activity the learners will be able to:
Determine and implement the appropriate basic/initial statistical analysis needed for their research question. • Recognize and link basic concepts of statistics with “what it means” and “when it is used” and know when to ask for help! • Data entry in statistical software like SPSS, Revman and Excel  • How to calculate the sample size needed for their study  • Basic analysis to understand missing data, wrong data entry, outliers and duplicates  • Summarize and describe their research data  • Create appropriate graphic display for a variable. • Examine the difference and/or association between variables.  • Perform Systematic Review and Meta-analysis • Learn how to write manuscript and publication tips
